Airbnb rental rates start as low as $10 per night and go up to thousands per night, with discounts if you book extended periods. Accommodations range from fully furnished hostels, rooms, apartments to houses and mansions. You can even stay in huts, house boats, livable stationed airplanes and a while back Conan O'Brien even posted his talk show studio for rent! Made for quite an interesting episode!
Airbnb Reliability and Safety
Airbnb backs landlords with home insurance and as a guest-renter, if you are not satisfied with the accommodations just contact Airbnb within the first 24hours and they will sort you out. You dont sign a rental contract but Airbnb and the landlords do have certain guidelines and rules that come into play when you confirm the reservation. Make sure you are confident in your rental when you book it because the cancelations fees can be intense depending on the settings made by the landlord. A down fall to Airbnb is the landlord can cancel at anytime. You get a full refund to your credit card or paypal account, or credit toward the site but it could drastically change your travel plans. Airbnb does punish people for canceling so I don't think it happens too often. It happened 1 out of 3 times for me so far and I was happy it did. The landlord ended up getting a ton of bad reviews leading up to his cancellation on me, so I was happy about it and found a much better place.
